Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin has been imprisoned again. On the morning of the 18th, his daughter, former Prime Minister Paetongtarn, visited him in prison for the second time and gave him 15,000 Baht (about 1,970 Ringgit) for his expenses inside the prison.
According to Thai media reports, the prison regulations stipulate that the maximum deposit for an inmate’s allowance is 15,000 Baht, and the maximum daily expenditure is 500 Baht (about 65 Ringgit).
The prison spokesperson said that Thaksin mainly uses this money to buy small meals.
Paetongtarn later told reporters that because her father was feeling slightly unwell, this visit was very brief. She said her father has high blood pressure, lacks sufficient rest, and his hair has started to fall out, but his spirits are good.
Paetongtarn stated that Thaksin's grandson wrote him a letter offering emotional support, wanting to tell Thaksin that he can always rely on them.
After Thaksin completed the 5-day COVID isolation period in prison, his ex-wife Potjaman, and daughters Paetongtarn and Pintongta visited him on the 15th.
Paetongtarn then told reporters outside the prison that her father's will remains strong and he even encouraged her to stay strong.
On the 9th, Thailand's Supreme Court delivered a verdict on Thaksin's bail for medical treatment case after his return from exile in August 2023, sentencing him to return to prison for one year.
