(Kuching, 10th) The second phase development plan of the Silongmen Tourism and Cultural Park, located at Tasik Bikajang, is expected to cost RM12.5 million. As the application for next year’s rolling plan has closed, the project is expected to be resubmitted for consideration under the 2028 rolling plan.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS), Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing stated that his ministry will continue to support the proposal for this project and will provide assistance before it is submitted to the Ministry of Economy for further consideration.
He pointed out that although the submission deadline for the next rolling plan has passed, the authorities will still do their best to ensure that the project receives appropriate consideration under the 2028 rolling plan.
“The application for next year’s rolling plan has closed, but we will make our best efforts to help include this proposal in the 2028 rolling plan.”

He said this after attending the site visit and briefing session for the proposed Silongmen Tourism and Cultural Park project on Saturday (9th).
This move shows that the authorities intend to retain the project and push for its implementation in the next federal development planning cycle.
Earlier, Tiong King Sing also received a briefing on the first phase of the project. The first phase has already been approved by the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) and allocated RM7.15 million.
The concept of the Silongmen Tourism and Cultural Park is not only aimed at preserving the historical gold mining heritage of Silongmen, but also integrates modern elements, creating a diversified tourism hub that combines culture, heritage, leisure, and education.
In addition, the project is expected to link several key tourist attractions in Silongmen, including Gua Hantu, the old gold mine sites, and Tasik Bikajang.
Once implemented, it is expected to further enhance Silongmen’s tourism appeal and drive local economic development through heritage and eco-tourism.
Those present included Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport (Riverine and Maritime) and Ba'Kelalan assemblyman Dato Henry Jinep.
