A residential building in the suburbs of New Delhi, India collapsed on the 19th, killing at least 11 people, including three children.
Indian media reported that the four-story building "collapsed like a house of cards."
According to AFP, the incident occurred in the northeastern part of New Delhi, an area primarily inhabited by migrant workers. Rescue teams are still searching the rubble for survivors.
According to NDTV, a total of 11 people have been declared dead, and another 11 have been rescued and sent to the hospital, with 5 currently receiving treatment.
Building collapses are frequent in India, and illegal constructions are also common in big cities, often serving as residences for migrant workers.
The cause of the collapse is still unclear. Delhi Minister Mishra attributed such building collapse incidents to the corrupt practices of the city government run by rival parties, stating on X: "The construction of such illegal buildings is in full swing."
He stated, "It is necessary to investigate all illegal buildings and take stringent measures."
