(Miri, 4th) Organized by the Miri Division Hoi Ning Association, the "14th Sarawak Hoi Ning Carnival" was grandly inaugurated on June 1st (Sunday) at the indoor basketball court of Pei Min Middle School in Miri, attracting Hoi Ning fellow townspeople from across Sarawak to gather in Miri for the event, creating a lively atmosphere.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Miri Mayor Yu Xiaoshan. In his speech, he stated that the "Sarawak Hoi Ning Carnival" is not only a cultural celebration but also an important platform showcasing the unity and cultural heritage of the Hoi Ning people in Sarawak.
The originally scheduled guest of honor, Deputy Minister of Sarawak's Ministry of Tourism Datuk Chen Chao Yao, was unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, and Mayor Yu Xiaoshan attended on his behalf.
Yu Xiaoshan highly praised the Hoi Ning Association for persistently organizing the carnival for fourteen years, demonstrating their passion and commitment to traditional culture and community spirit, which is admirable.
"This carnival not only enriches the cultural life of Miri but also makes a positive contribution to promoting community harmony and the development of the tourism economy."
He noted that the content of this event is diverse and rich in format, and he believes it will deepen connections among fellow townspeople in the joyful gathering and facilitate collaborative development through exchanges.
Yu Xiaoshan also specially thanked the organizing committee chairman Jiang Xianzhu and his team for their months of effort, and expressed respect to Hoi Ning Association President Jiang Shunshi, acknowledging their valuable contributions to promoting culture and strengthening community spirit.
