Texas Governor Abbott said on the 8th that since the 4th, heavy rainfall has triggered flooding, leaving at least 161 people missing in Kerr County, Texas.

Information released by affected counties on the same day shows that the flood disaster has already caused at least 109 deaths.

At a press conference, Abbott said that according to reports from relatives, friends, and neighbors of the missing, there are still at least 161 people unaccounted for, and the number of missing individuals may continue to rise. Search operations will continue.

This flood disaster is one of the most severe in the United States in the past century. At Abbott's request, President Trump signed the relevant documents, designating the hardest-hit Kerr County as a "major disaster area" to enable the use of federal funds for disaster relief. On the 8th, Kerr County confirmed that the flood disaster had caused 87 deaths.

According to data from the US National Weather Service, in the past decade, an average of 113 people die from flooding each year in the United States, accounting for about one-sixth of all weather-related deaths.
