Democratic Action Party Deputy Chairman Nga Kor Ming stated that in the Ayer Kuning state by-election, the majority votes of the Unity Government have doubled, proving that the PH successfully mobilized its supporters, and he hopes that BN will reciprocate in the future.
He, who is also the DAP Chairman of Perak, mentioned that the Unity Government candidate Yusri won with a majority of 5,006 votes, doubling from the 2,213 majority votes in the 2022 state election, which confirms that PH successfully mobilized its supporters and highlights the trust and support of voters towards the Malaysia Madani Government.
“The voter turnout for this by-election was 58.07%, which decreased from the previous election's 74.85% turnout. Nevertheless, Yusri lost by a slight margin only at the Tanjong Keramat polling station, while winning at all other 22 polling stations, demonstrating Ayer Kuning's support for the Unity Government candidate.”
He noted that to ensure the Unity Government's candidate's victory, PH appointed Ipoh Timor MP Lee Cheong Yew as the director of DAP's election campaign mechanism, and all state and parliamentary members went to Ayer Kuning to assist in the campaign.
Nga Kor Ming revealed that in addition, the PH campaign team was stationed in Ayer Kuning for one month, and fully cooperated with the BN candidate in campaign mechanisms including publicity, banquets for thousands, and other arrangements, exerting every effort to assist the Unity Government candidate.
“Among them, the banquet for a thousand people at Leng Shui He Village on April 24 received up to 1,500 villagers in attendance, with an enthusiastic atmosphere. It is noteworthy that PH state and parliamentary leaders attended the banquet to support, delivered speeches, and fundraised to physically support the Unity Government candidate.”
He emphasized that this not only highlights the increasingly close relationship of the Perak Unity Government but also the unity and stability of the Unity Government from the state level to the federal level.
Nga Kor Ming expressed hope that BN would reciprocate in the future, and under the election mechanism of the Unity Government, work towards national unity and stability through friendly cooperation.
