Singaporean Couple Staying at Doha Hotel Hear Explosions and Emergency Alarms

(Qatar, 1st) – A Singaporean couple currently traveling in Doha, the capital of Qatar, experienced a tense moment in their hotel. Shortly after they received news during breakfast that the United States had launched a military strike against Iran, their phones repeatedly sounded local national emergency alerts, and explosions could be heard in the distance.

Singaporean tourists Chan Jingfen (64) and her husband Zhang Siming (70) revealed the situation at their hotel during a long-distance interview with Lianhe Zaobao on Saturday afternoon (February 28, local time). They said that hotel staff and guests remained calm, and the water supply was not affected.

She said, “We asked the hotel concierge, and they said there is no need to worry for now. If necessary, they will inform the guests at the first moment.”

On the 28th, the United States and Israel jointly attacked Iran. Iran, in turn, launched retaliatory attacks on U.S. military facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar.

Chan Jingfen revealed that in the morning, there were still tourists sunbathing as usual at the hotel's pool and beach area, and people were not yet aware of the changing situation. Later, after returning to their hotel room, although nothing could be seen outside the window to indicate an attack, frequent explosions could be heard, and the windows would shake.

Originally, Chan Jingfen and Zhang Siming planned to have a short two-night stay in Doha after finishing their wildlife adventure in Tanzania, before continuing on to Cairo. However, now that Qatari airspace has been temporarily closed, they can only stay in their room, follow the news situation on television, and wait for further notifications from the authorities.
