The new film 'The Wild Era' starring Shu Qi and Yi Yangqianxi has announced the exciting news of its selection for the main competition at the Cannes Film Festival. Shu Qi is likely to attend with the film, once again showcasing her beauty and charisma on the Cannes red carpet, striving for the Cannes Best Actress award. 'The Wild Era' is directed by 35-year-old Chinese director Bi Gan, whose previous works, including 'Kaili Blues' and 'Long Day's Journey into Night', are known for their unique styles. Among them, 'Kaili Blues' won the Best New Director at the Golden Horse Awards, and 'Long Day's Journey into Night' was selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. Now, he is taking his new film to the Cannes Film Festival main competition, marking a significant achievement in his directing career.

The film 'The Wild Era' is a sci-fi suspense movie that blends elements of surrealism, detective fiction, and philosophy, telling the story of an android resurrected through time travel. In the near future, a woman falls into a deep sleep during surgery and discovers the remnants of an android within her consciousness, leading her to undertake a mysterious journey... full of suspense. Shu Qi is expected to play the woman in the deep sleep during surgery, Yi Yangqianxi plays the android, and Zhao Youting also stars in the film, though his role is yet unknown.

The selection of 'The Wild Era' for the Cannes Film Festival had early indications. Previously, the Cannes Film Festival's official website briefly listed 'The Wild Era' in the main competition's exciting news section, but it was later removed. Film bloggers analyzed that the film had not yet passed Chinese censorship and had not received the 'Dragon Seal' (public screening permit). Without the Dragon Seal, participating directly in an international film festival could result in penalties for the director upon returning to China. The Cannes Film Festival waited until the film received the Dragon Seal before officially announcing the selection.
