(Bangkok, 6th) As tensions rise at the Thai-Cambodian border, Thai Royal Navy Commander Jeeraphop Wongwi stated that Thai troops are ready for immediate deployment to handle any possible emergencies.

In response to media reports about recent Cambodian Navy live-fire exercises near the island of Koh Rong, close to Thailand, Jeeraphop pointed out that the Cambodian navy had not conducted such exercises for a long time. While this move has garnered attention, he urged the public not to panic.

He explained that Thailand routinely conducts military exercises every year, having already carried out land training in Narathiwat and live-fire exercises in the Andaman Sea since the beginning of the year as part of regular training arrangements.

Jeeraphop added, "If necessary, should more weapons and equipment need to be procured and can be delivered promptly, we will proceed with the next phase of training, including integrating drone systems into the exercises."

When asked if Thai intelligence units have analyzed the potential intentions behind the Cambodian exercises, he indicated that the current border tension primarily originates from the Chong Bok area in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Although the Cambodian navy has been inactive for a long time, their operations upon receiving orders are normal.

"If I were in their position, I would take the same action under such circumstances," he frankly stated.

Jeeraphop also revealed that Thailand has deployed border defense troops in areas bordering Cambodia, from Chanthaburi Province to Trat Province, and has completed combat readiness assessments for all units.

Additionally, he confirmed that Thailand has completed live-fire weapons exercises for border naval forces in the seas adjacent to Cambodia to ensure rapid response and self-defense capabilities in critical moments.
