(Jakarta, 28th) A Brunei citizen (initials MHF, aged 30) was assaulted and died after being struck on the head with a liquor bottle in M District, South Jakarta (Jaksel). The police have arrested a suspect, who is also a Brunei citizen, Mohamad Irman Ali (33), known online as Celebrum Woodyrman on Instagram.
The incident occurred at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2026. Circulating videos show that the victim and the suspect initially had a dispute.
Some individuals tried to intervene, but the altercation continued until the victim was struck on the head with a liquor bottle. The victim collapsed at the scene.
Senior Jakarta police officer Budi Hermanto told reporters that a suspected case of fatal assault occurred in the M Block of Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
Budi Hermanto stated that the victim was initially with eyewitnesses near the scene. Afterwards, others also approached and spoke with the victim.
"At around 3:28 a.m., the suspect and his associates arrived at the scene by car. After getting out, the suspect was carrying a black paper bag, which appeared to contain a glass bottle. Subsequently, the suspect approached the victim and a dispute broke out at the entrance of Blok M Hub."
The argument between the two continued until the suspect struck the victim with the glass bottle. The victim collapsed on the spot.
Reportedly, the suspect used a paper bag containing a glass bottle to hit the victim on the head until the victim fell.
After collapsing, the victim was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment; however, the victim's condition deteriorated and passed away on May 16, 2026.
The police arrested the suspect, Woodyrman, in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, in the early morning of May 25 (Monday). The suspect has now been taken to the Metro Jaya Police Station for further investigation.
Resa Fiardi Marasabessy, a criminal investigator from the capital's police department, stated that after a series of investigations, the suspect was apprehended. The police also obtained several pieces of evidence, including surveillance footage from the scene.
"Based on the investigation, the team successfully identified the suspect. The suspect was then arrested,"
The suspect is being held criminally responsible for violating Article 466(3) and/or Article 468(2) of the 2023 Law No. 1 (Criminal Code) regarding deadly assault.
