A fatal campus bullying incident occurred in Los Angeles, USA! A student trying to protect her sister from being bullied by classmates was unfortunately killed after being struck on the head by a metal water bottle.
According to a report by the New York Post, the incident happened on the 17th of last month at a high school in Los Angeles.
Surveillance footage obtained by local media shows a group of students arguing and shoving each other in a hallway at Reseda Charter High School.
According to reports, 12-year-old student Khimberly Zavaleta Chuquipa’s sister was being bullied by classmates at the time. Khimberly stepped forward to stand up for her sister.
At that moment, another student suddenly threw a metal water bottle, striking Khimberly on the head.
It was reported that Khimberly’s initial injuries were not life-threatening. She was sent to a hospital for examination and was allowed to return home. However, a few days later, she suddenly collapsed at home. When she was rushed to the hospital again, doctors discovered severe bleeding in her brain, and she ultimately did not survive.
The video has also become key evidence in the family’s legal action, accusing the school of failing to curb a long-standing bullying problem in a timely manner.
The family said that the school was already aware of the bullying behaviors of the students involved, but did not take effective action.
The Los Angeles police have classified the case as a homicide for investigation.
