Low Approval Rating in Hundred Days of Office: Trump Calls "Fake Polls" Disgusting

Published at Apr 29, 2025 11:07 am
Before reaching the hundred days of office, U.S. President Trump criticized the polls showing his low approval rating as "fake," and called for an investigation into these polls.

On the 28th, Trump posted on social media saying: "Renowned pollster, one of the most respected in the industry, John McLaughlin just pointed out that The New York Times' failed poll as well as ABC/The Washington Post's poll... are 'fake polls' published by fake news organizations."

"We no longer have free and fair press in our country. Our media is always writing negative stories and engaging in deception in polls. It has been damaged and is corrupt."

"Trump Derangement Syndrome"

Additionally, Trump claimed that the polls are controlled by those "suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome" and slammed "they are disgusting."

McLaughlin is a close ally of Trump and a Republican pollster who has long released poll results favorable to Trump.

April 30 Marks 100 Days

Trump was sworn in on January 20, and April 30 will mark 100 days. He is expected to hold a rally in Michigan on the 29th to celebrate the hundred days in office.

A joint poll released last week by The Washington Post and ABC shows that only 39% of Americans approve of Trump's administrative performance; The New York Times poll shows his governing approval rating at 42%. The Washington Post poll also noted that over 40% of Americans "strongly oppose" Trump.

A survey commissioned by CNN conducted by polling organization SSRS indicates Trump's approval rating at only 41%, at least since President Eisenhower, who served from 1953 to 1961, it is the lowest approval rate of any sitting president after a hundred days in office, and it is lower than his first term at the same stage.
