(India, 7th) A fire broke out in a nightclub in the western Indian state of Goa early on the 7th, resulting in at least 23 deaths.
According to reports from Indian media, the incident took place at a nightclub located in the village of Arpora, Goa, near Baga Beach, which is one of the most popular beaches in the area. The club only opened last year.
The majority of the victims were kitchen staff at the nightclub, along with 3 to 4 tourists. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have been caused by a gas cylinder explosion.
The fire was concentrated in the club's kitchen area, and most of the victims' bodies were found in the kitchen.
Goa is located on India's west coast and is a famous seaside tourist destination. This is currently peak tourist season. According to official data, in the first half of this year, Goa saw around 5.5 million tourist visits, with 271,000 of them from foreign tourists.
