Top Speed Aquatic Shines with 93 Medals as 13 Swimmers Qualify for National Meet

MIRI, Jan 8 — Top Speed Aquatic Swimming Club kicked off the new year in spectacular fashion after delivering an outstanding performance at the 52nd Sarawak Invitational Age Group Swimming Championship 2026, winning a total of 93 medals — 29 Gold, 30 Silver, and 34 Bronze.

The championship, held from 2 to 4 January 2026, saw Top Speed swimmers excel across both boys’ and girls’ individual events, with several athletes earning Best Swimmer awards in their respective age categories.

Outstanding Performances by Girls


Carissa Chong dominated the 9 Years & Under category with 5 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze, earning the Best Girl Swimmer title.

Yuen En Chee captured 7 Gold and 3 Silver medals in the 12–13 Years category, also clinching Best Girl Swimmer honours.Liysha Liung Chen impressed in the 14–15 Years category with 6 Gold and 1 Silver, securing the Best Girl Swimmer award.

Ethan Yii (3 Gold, 2 Silver, 1 Bronze),
Evert Soh (2 Silver, 1 Bronze),
Nathan Sim (1 Silver, 1 Bronze),
Henry Voon (1 Silver, 2 Bronze),
Louis Tie (1 Silver),
Gareth Yii (1 Silver, 3 Bronze),
Chin Teng Yun (2 Bronze), and
Cayden Chong (1 Bronze).

Record-Breaking Qualification for Nationals

A major highlight for the club was the qualification of 13 swimmers for the Malaysian Invitational Age Group Swimming Championship, scheduled to take place from 5 to 8 February 2026. This marks the largest number of swimmers from Top Speed Aquatic to qualify for a national meet, setting a new milestone for the club.

The team also expressed its sincere appreciation to Gymkhana Club Miri for providing pool facilities for regular training, and to the Miri Amateur Swimming Association (MASA) for selecting 37 swimmers to compete at the championship.

Club advisor and coach David Chung said the unwavering support and trust from parents and supporters continue to motivate the swimmers to push beyond their limits, adding that the club will remain committed to excellence as it strives for greater success at higher-level competitions.
