The Trump family has signed an agreement to build a 335-meter-tall, 91-story skyscraper in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.
According to the Courier Mail, developer Altus Group will partner with the family of former U.S. President Donald Trump to construct what will become Australia's tallest building on the site of the previously failed Spirit project.
Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of The Trump Organization, stated that the proposed project, The Trump International Hotel & Tower, Gold Coast, is the family’s first official venture in Australia. The skyscraper will include 285 luxury hotel rooms bearing the Trump brand, 272 high-end residences, an exclusive beach club, and more than 3,400 square meters of premium commercial, retail, and dining space.
“This development showcases the Trump brand’s commitment to quality, sophistication, and unrivaled service. We are thrilled to bring this vision to the vibrant Gold Coast community.”
Altus founder and chief executive David Young signed the agreement with the Trump family at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.
He said the project would provide the Australian market with a truly unique offering, bringing with it the prestige and allure of a world-class luxury brand. “Altus has a strong track record of delivering landmark developments in Australia, and our expertise will ensure this project is a resounding success.”
The previously approved Spirit project was originally planned as an 89-story skyscraper but construction stopped in June 2018, and the land was sold in 2019.
