Russian President Putin held a phone call with Iranian President Pezeshkian on the 6th, once again expressing deep condolences over the deaths of Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei and his family, Iranian military and political leaders, as well as the heavy civilian casualties caused by attacks from the United States and Israel against Iran.
According to the Kremlin, Putin reiterated Russia’s principled stance, including that military actions must be halted immediately, the use of force to resolve issues related to Iran and the Middle East should be abandoned, and a swift return to the path of political and diplomatic resolution is necessary.
Putin stated that Russia is maintaining close communication with the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council member countries.
Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Russia's support of the Iranian people's defense of their national sovereignty and independence, and provided updates on the latest developments in the ongoing conflict. Both parties agreed to maintain contact through multiple channels.
