Man Dies After Losing Control of Car and Crashing into Drain

( DALAT , 4th) — A Toyota Rush SUV lost control and crashed into a concrete drain on the Oya-Tarik road early this morning, resulting in the death of a man at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as Chung Marn Cherk, and the accident occurred at around 3:30 AM.
A spokesperson for the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Operations Center (PGO) stated that upon receiving the alert at 3:37 AM, the Mukah Fire and Rescue Department (BBP Mukah) swiftly dispatched a team to the scene.
"Upon arrival, the team found that the involved Toyota Rush had apparently lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into the roadside culvert.
“The impact caused the driver to be thrown out of the vehicle and he was confirmed dead at the scene,” said the spokesperson.
The body of the deceased was subsequently sent to Mukah Hospital by the police for further handling.
As a follow-up measure, firefighters also conducted safety checks and disconnected the vehicle's battery to prevent a fire risk.
“During checks, smoke was observed coming from the dashboard, so team members immediately sprayed water to cool it down and prevent a fire,” the spokesperson added.
Currently, the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
