On the 18th, UK Prime Minister Starmer had a phone call with US President Trump.
10 Downing Street noted that Starmer told Trump that imposing tariffs on allies committed to safeguarding NATO’s collective security is “wrong.”
A Downing Street spokesperson said that Starmer also spoke that afternoon with Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen, European Commission President von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Rutte, and Trump. In “all the calls,” Starmer reiterated the UK’s position on Greenland, stating that safeguarding the security of Greenland’s “High North” region is a shared priority for all NATO allies and is crucial to the overall interests of the Euro-Atlantic area.
