(Bandar Seri Begawan, 12th) In view of the current extreme weather conditions affecting the whole country, including continuous heavy rainfall leading to flooding in many places.
The Ministry of Health reminds the public, especially residents in affected areas, to take preventive measures to avoid accidental incidents, injuries, and the risk of infectious disease transmission.
The public is advised to stay vigilant against cholera, diarrhea, food poisoning, and other foodborne and waterborne infectious diseases, as well as mosquito-borne infectious diseases such as dengue fever.
Health and safety measures that should be taken during and after floods are as follows:
Ensure the water used is clean and not contaminated; ensure bottled water is safe, or first ensure the safety of drinking and cooking water; thoroughly cook all food before consumption.
Pay attention to personal hygiene, especially before eating, after using the toilet, and after being exposed to floodwaters. Be sure to wash your hands with clean water and soap.
Maintain cleanliness of living environments and surrounding areas. Do not litter; ensure there is no standing water that may breed mosquitoes and ensure that drains are not blocked by garbage, mud, or branches. If you develop symptoms such as fever, stomach ache, diarrhea, or vomiting, please seek medical attention immediately; prioritize children's safety, keep them away from flood waters, and avoid the risks of drowning, injury, and disease transmission.

If there is still power supply, do not enter rooms or spaces submerged by floods, and avoid touching cables or electrical wires that have fallen nearby or are in floodwaters.
People with wounds, skin diseases, or chronic illnesses (especially diabetes) are advised to avoid contact with floodwaters, as sewage may cause infections. However, if you have a minor injury and have been soaked by floodwaters, you are advised to clean the wound and seek medical attention promptly.
For patients with chronic diseases, please ensure you have an adequate supply of medication. If medicines are running low, it is recommended to go to the hospital or nearby health center for assistance.
For more information or to provide any feedback, the public may visit the Ministry of Health website at www.moh.gov.bn or call Talian Darussalam 123.
