(Bandar Seri Begawan, 9th) Chung Hwa Middle School, Brunei recently held a motivational seminar for Year Six primary school graduates, attracting nearly 140 Year Six students from the school.
This event was organized by the school's Counseling Office, aiming to help primary school graduates adjust their mindset, master strategies, share exam techniques, and encourage them to approach the PSR exam with a positive and proactive attitude. The event was planned by Ms. Zhu Shilu from the Counseling Office.
The motivational camp was held on September 25 this year, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM in Heping Hall. The event was graced by Principal Khoo Yok Lan of Chung Hwa Middle School, who attended as a guest of honor and presented prizes to the winning classes of the games competition.
In her speech, Principal Khoo affirmed the efforts of the Year Six students, encouraging everyone to give their all and strive for excellent results in the PSR examination.
She said, "I am filled with joy to see you all thrive under the nourishment of trilingual education at CHMS over the past six years. The upcoming PSR exam is an important step in your academic journey, but please remember, it is not just a test of knowledge, but also a display of your perseverance and growth!"
Principal Khoo called on the graduates to combine exam mindset adjustments with method suggestions, arrange their schedules reasonably before exams, and ensure adequate sleep so that they may take the exam in their best condition. She concluded by wishing the students to write an exam paper worthy of themselves in the PSR using wisdom as a pen and confidence as ink!
This year's motivational camp also included the usual "I am really great!" Slogan Competition. In the end, the Purple Year Six class won the Best Performance Award with their neat moves and loud slogans, boosting morale for the whole venue.
The seminar invited four Year Ten students—Alexia, Hong Ji Sheng, Zhou Yu, and Huang Zun Kai—as guest speakers. They shared with their junior schoolmates how to relieve exam anxiety, recognize self-worth, and use practical techniques such as breathing relaxation.
One of the highlights of the seminar was group interactive games. All Year Six students were divided into 14 small groups, with each group required to name their team and design a unique team pose. Then, each group drew different questions, covering topics such as exam strategies, healthy living habits, and a positive exam mindset, and answered them in a short presentation.
This session not only tested the students' creativity and cooperation skills but also developed their expression and presentation skills. In the end, the teachers selected two winning teams for "Most Creative Pose" and "Best Presentation".
During the event, students also enjoyed a fun-filled "Year Six Motivational Short Film." The short film was shot by several alumni who graduated many years ago, sharing study tips and exam experiences in a humorous way that brought lots of laughter and insights.
Finally, counselor Ms. Zhu Shilu warmly reminded students to familiarize themselves with exam rules and follow the invigilator's instructions. The entire motivational seminar concluded on a cheerful note, ending with laughter and a group photo.
