Recently, Yinchuan Airport in Ningxia, China experienced a mid-air fright, as a Juneyao Airlines flight was affected by a sandstorm. Due to insufficient visibility, the plane had to perform a touch-and-go, rapidly climbing again which caused many passengers to scream and vomit. The airplane had to make an emergency diversion to land in Xi'an, with no injuries reported.
● Passengers: Almost couldn't see the runway
According to Jimu News, the Juneyao Airlines flight HO2301 from Shanghai to Yinchuan on the 5th attempted to land in Yinchuan, but due to the sandstorm causing low visibility, the plane had to make an emergency climb back after its wheels touched the ground.
Passenger Ms. Fang indicated that on the afternoon of the 5th, the weather at Yinchuan Airport was terrible, with strong sand winds making it nearly impossible to see the runway outside.
Ms. Fang said, “After circling above the airport for over ten minutes, the plane prepared to land. At the moment of touching down, it was evident that the wheels had hit the ground twice, but the fuselage was very shaky and couldn't stabilize. Within no more than two seconds, the plane immediately took off again.”
She noted that the cabin was momentarily chaotic, and many passengers were frightened, screaming and vomiting.
Eventually, the plane had to divert and land at Xi'an Xianyang Airport in an emergency situation, with no injuries reported.
On the morning of the 6th, a Juneyao Airlines staff member responded that due to weather conditions, the flight indeed had a diversion situation. Regarding compensation, the staff said that passengers could specifically consult customer service.
