(Batu Kawan, 14th) The Malaysian government reiterates its commitment to continuing to ease the burden of living costs on the public through the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM).
This ongoing government programme has a fixed annual budget and covers 600 state constituencies nationwide, with at least three events held per constituency each month.
Unlike temporary aid measures, PJRM operates on a fixed schedule and is publicly announced via official social media platforms.
The public can check the event arrangements in their area, state or parliamentary constituency, making it convenient for those in need to plan their purchases ahead of time.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Armizan Ali, pointed out that from January 1 to March 31 this year alone, a total of 7,320 PJRM events were held nationwide, recording 7,387,213 transactions, indicating an enthusiastic response from the public.
He said at the Sentuhan Kasih (Touch of Love) event held in Kampung Bratan yesterday (April 13): “This programme offers discounts of 10% to 30% off local market prices, covering basic necessities such as white rice, cooking oil, white sugar, flour, eggs, and chicken.”
As for Sarawak, there were 775 PJRM events held in the same period, recording 761,398 transactions, reflecting the programme’s good results even in this widely distributed community.
He said: “This initiative aligns with the Madani Government’s commitment to ensuring people from all walks of life have access to basic necessities at affordable prices.”
In the face of global energy uncertainties caused by the West Asian conflict, which continue to put pressure on supply chains and logistics costs, especially for imported goods, the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living is committed to further expanding the programme’s coverage and frequency as a targeted measure, strengthening PJRM as a key tool to curb rising prices.
