(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) Sun De'an, President of the World Chinese Writers Association and President of the Brunei Chinese Literature and Arts Association, recently made a special trip to Miri, Sarawak to attend the “Miri Writers’ Association New Venue Opening and Unveiling Ceremony.” He witnessed a new stage in the development of the Miri Writers’ Association and promoted Chinese literary exchange between Malaysia and Brunei.
On Friday evening, the Miri Writers’ Association hosted a welcoming banquet at the renowned Huang Chao Restaurant, bringing together numerous writers and cultural figures for lively exchanges in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Many participants expressed that their long-term commitment to advancing global Chinese literary cooperation made this visit to Miri a gesture of mutual support and a testament to the will for deepening exchanges.
At the banquet, representatives of the Miri Writers’ Association thanked Sun De'an for his visit and noted that the establishment of the new venue is a significant milestone for the local literary scene. The new venue will serve as a platform for writers to communicate, discuss, and create, also laying a solid foundation for hosting regional literary events in the future.
President Sun De'an emphasized that the development of Chinese literature requires cross-border cooperation and support. The vibrancy and contribution of the Miri Writers’ Association have long been recognized. He pointed out that the inauguration of the new venue symbolizes the inheritance and innovation of Chinese literature in Miri, providing broader space for regional cultural exchange.
