U.S. President Trump said on the 5th that the United States will host the 2026 G20 Summit at his golf resort in Miami, but he made clear that he would not earn any income from it.
Trump said his “Trump National Doral Golf Resort” is the ideal venue for next December’s G20 Summit because it is a “beautiful” resort with stunning scenery, and the weather in Florida is pleasant.
Trump further pointed out that hotel rooms are hard to find in Florida in December, which is peak tourist season, whereas the Doral Resort has ample space and can ensure that delegations from various countries each have their own separate buildings. He also emphasized the convenient transportation from the airport to the venue, which is favorable for world leaders arriving.
However, Trump insisted that he would not profit from this summit. He said: “We will not make any money from this. We will reach an agreement, but it will not involve money—there is simply no money involved. I just want everything to go smoothly.”
The 2026 G20 Summit will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, and marks the first time since 2009 that the U.S. is hosting the international forum. Trump described Miami as “one of America's greatest cities.” Miami Mayor Suarez also attended the announcement, stating: “This decision is of generational significance for our city and elevates Miami to a global city.”
