Luxury Car Impounded due to Overdue Road Tax

(Miri, 21st) The Sarawak Road Transport Department (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan, JPJ), through the Miri Road Transport Department Operations Unit, carried out the "Luxury Vehicles Operation" (Ops Kenderaan Mewah) and "Commercial Vehicles Raid Operation" (Ops Gempur Kenderaan Perdagangan) in the downtown area of Miri to patrol and supervise road usage.
The Sarawak Road Transport Department issued a statement saying that a total of 312 vehicles were inspected during the operation, including commercial and private vehicles.
The statement said: "During inspections, enforcement officers discovered a number of violations, including drivers not holding valid driving licenses, lacking commercial driving licenses (GDL), not wearing seat belts, as well as other violations related to technical aspects of vehicles."
"One luxury car was impounded on the spot for using an expired road tax and lacking valid insurance coverage."
The Sarawak Road Transport Department emphasized that it will continue to carry out targeted enforcement actions as a proactive measure to increase compliance with road regulations, ensuring the safety and well-being of all road users.
