(Seria, 4th) Chen Shaochun, the appointed Chinese Ambassador to Brunei, together with his wife and embassy staff, recently visited Seria Chinese School, holding a donation event in conjunction with Ramadan, and received a warm welcome from the school’s teachers, students, and parents.
Members of the school’s Board of Directors, including Chairman Yang Qiansheng, First Vice Chairman Wen Deming, as well as teachers and students, gathered on campus to greet the delegation. In his speech, Yang Qiansheng stated that since Ambassador Chen Shaochun assumed his post, he has actively visited Chinese schools, chambers of commerce, and community associations. His visit to this school holds far-reaching significance. He thanked the Chinese Embassy for providing financial support over the years, helping the school enrich its operational fund to benefit the students.
During the visit, Chen Shaochun donated education funds to the school to support school development, and gave special gifts to six Muslim students, demonstrating care and inclusiveness. The donation not only reflects the Chinese Embassy's support for Chinese language education in Brunei, but also conveys the deep friendship between China and Brunei.
Both parties then held discussions. Yang Qiansheng mentioned that with the changing times, the number of students from farming families has decreased, leading to a drop in admissions and increased financial pressure. However, the board upholds the spirit of “planting trees for future generations,” remaining committed to the founding mission and educational ideals, hoping to overcome challenges and ensure the school’s sustainable development.
At the end of the visit, Chen Shaochun, accompanied by board members, toured the campus to learn about the operating environment and the school's current development. The school remarked that the visit has deepened the friendship between China and Brunei and injected new momentum into the school’s future development.
