(Seria, 21st) Brunei’s Teng Yun Temple grandly held the birthday celebration for the Northern Emperor Zhenwu Xuantian Shangdi and the Sacred Birthday of the Queen Mother of the West of the Jade Pool on the 19th of this month, attracting numerous devotees to actively participate in a solemn and lively atmosphere.
On the morning of the 19th at 9 a.m., Teng Yun Temple, following traditional rituals, respectfully invited Xuantian Shangdi to descend, and also welcomed the Jade Emperor and the Three Officials and Five Emperors to join, commencing the birthday blessing ceremony. At the same time, the “Peach Banquet” celebration for the Queen Mother of the Jade Pool's birthday was held, praying for favorable weather and national peace.
At 5 p.m. the same day, a ceremony was held to reward the Five Camps’ generals and to distribute offerings, giving food to invisible beings and “good brothers”, reflecting the traditional spirit of delivering all beings from suffering.
At 8 p.m., a fire crossing and plague expelling ritual was conducted. Led by Xuantian Shangdi and his disciples, the ceremony was held to pray for disaster relief, removal of misfortune, and driving away cold and evil energies, in an atmosphere of solemnity and reverence.
The chairman of Teng Yun Temple, Lee Yong Ching, together with directors, advisors, temple managers, Taoist priests, and welfare group members, participated throughout the event, joining local devotees in witnessing this important annual religious celebration.
