Mao Zedong’s Grandson Mao Xinyu and Family of Four Watch September 3rd Military Parade, Topic Trends Online

The late CCP founding leader Mao Zedong’s grandson, Mao Xinyu, went to Beijing’s Tiananmen on Wednesday (September 3rd) to watch China’s grand military parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan. After a related short video appeared on the Chinese internet, it shot to the top of the hot search lists on platforms such as Sina Weibo and Baidu search engines late at night on Saturday (September 6th).
According to Hong Kong Commercial Daily, China News Service and others, the short video shows Mao Xinyu and his son Mao Dongdong both wearing military uniforms that day, while his wife Liu Bin wore a light blue top paired with white trousers, and his daughter Mao Tianyi wore a sports outfit.

Mao Xinyu, upon meeting reporters, also shook hands in greeting, saying it had been a long time, but he did not accept interviews.
While waiting, Mao Xinyu’s family interacted and chatted from time to time. Mao Tianyi whispered to her father, both father and daughter smiling. Mao Dongdong took the initiative to help his father adjust his clothes and belt.

During the Qingming Festival this year, on April 5th, Mao Xinyu had returned to Shaoshan, Hunan, with his wife and children to honor their ancestors. At his grandfather Mao Zedong’s grave, Mao Xinyu said, “The descendants of the Mao family will always be upright and honest,” and pledged to always hold himself to high standards and continuously contribute to the CCP and China.
After the ancestor homage, Mao Xinyu also went to Dishuidong Rhododendron Valley and recited the famous essay “We Love Shaoshan’s Red Azaleas,” co-authored by his father Mao Anqing and mother Shao Hua.
