(Kuching, 31st) Kuching District Police Headquarters have confirmed that the woman's body found in a shopping center parking lot on Jalan Song on the afternoon of October 29th is indeed that of the woman from Taman Taman who was reported missing days ago.
ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, Kuching District Police Chief, stated in a statement yesterday that on October 29th at 1:55pm, police received a public report about an unconscious woman found inside a parked vehicle.
The vehicle was parked in the multi-storey parking lot of the shopping center.
Police arrived at the scene to find the woman lying in the driver's seat. As the car doors were locked from the inside, police called the Taman Taman Fire and Rescue Department for assistance in breaking into the car.
Subsequently, medical personnel from Sarawak General Hospital confirmed the woman showed no signs of life.
The police said the deceased was a woman in her twenties from Taman Taman. Her family and friends had earlier filed a missing person report, stating she had been missing since October 25th (Saturday).
Police confirmed the identity of the deceased based on the missing person report details and vehicle registration information.
The body has been sent to the Sarawak General Hospital Forensics Department for further investigation.
ACP Alexson emphasized that a preliminary investigation found no criminal elements, and the case is currently being handled as a "sudden death case."
He called on the public not to speculate, to avoid disturbing the privacy and grieving space of the deceased’s family.
The police also urge anyone with information to contact ASP Simon anak Renang, chief officer of the Sekama Police Station, at 016-8547803, or call the Sekama Police Station at 082-332522. Information can also be provided at the nearest police station.
