Chinese actor Shi Xiaolong, who rose to fame across the Chinese-speaking world as a child star, has recently become embroiled in a DUI controversy. Shi Xiaolong trained in martial arts at the Shaolin Temple from a young age and shot to stardom in 1994 with Hao Shaowen in the movie "Shaolin Popey." His role as a nimble and adorably expressionless young monk became a classic image for countless fans. Now, 30 years later, the 38-year-old has allegedly been caught drunk driving, drawing much public attention.
Recently, gossip media released footage showing that Shi Xiaolong dined with friends one evening at a hotel in Beijing, leaving the venue still holding an unfinished bottle of Moutai liquor, accompanied by a female friend. He then proactively called for a designated driver, first sending two female friends home and then having the designated driver escort him home.
However, the controversy arose during the final leg of the journey. According to the footage, when the vehicle reached the vicinity of Shi Xiaolong's residential community, he asked the designated driver to get out early, then proceeded to drive the car into the community himself. After this behavior was exposed by the media, netizens quickly questioned whether it constituted drunk driving, and the topic rapidly trended online. As of now, the relevant authorities have yet to release any official investigation results, and neither Shi Xiaolong nor his management team has made a formal public response.
