KUCHING, Aug 29: Sarawak has maintained a prestigious AAA financial rating for several consecutive years, underscoring the State’s strong governance, prudent fiscal management, and accountability, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg revealed.
Speaking at Sarawak Integrity Day 2025 at the Borneo Centre Convention Centre (BCCK) here yesterday, Abang Johari said the recognition reflects the State’s consistent culture of integrity in financial administration, a principle that must continue to be safeguarded in order to secure a stable and prosperous future for Sarawakians.
“The Auditor-General’s annual reports are carefully studied. Whenever weaknesses are found, we must strengthen them and provide solutions.
“By following the right path in managing our trust, we ensure that Sarawak remains in a strong fiscal position,” he said.
He highlighted that Sarawak’s financial resilience has enabled the government to reinvest resources into infrastructure, education, technology, and poverty eradication programmes that directly benefit the people.
The Premier also reminded the civil service that integrity and knowledge must go hand in hand, noting that “integrity without knowledge is useless, while knowledge without integrity is dangerous”.
Abang Johari called on government departments, government-linked companies (GLCs), community leaders, and all stakeholders to continue working collectively to strengthen Sarawak’s economy and maintain the State’s status as a benchmark for accountability and good governance in the region.
