(Kuala Lumpur, 5th) Approximately 445,000 civil servants are about to gain access to Google's Workspace artificial intelligence assistant 'Gemini' suite, thereby expanding the application of AI in public service.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh said the plan aims to equip civil servants in our country with the latest generative AI capabilities from Google Workspace to enhance the delivery of public services.

He officiated the launch of 'AI at Work 2.0', and in his speech at the event, he mentioned that the first phase of this plan was launched last December together with Malaysia's National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO) as a pilot project to test the integration of AI in government workflows.

'Through the 'AI at Work 2.0' initiative cooperated by NAIO and Google Cloud, the government is actively utilizing generative AI while setting up appropriate safeguards to better serve the public, which is also part of our five-year AI technology action plan.

'AI at Work 2.0 will include practical workshops to train civil servants on maximizing the use of Google Workspace's Gemini, featuring effective prompts and high-impact use cases.'

The first phase of AI at Work training involved 270 civil servants from various government agencies.

According to feedback and usage data from the pilot program, Rahul Sharma, Managing Director for Google Cloud Asia Pacific Public Sector Business, said that 97% of respondents saved an average of 3.25 hours of work time per week, and 91% noted that generative AI helped them improve work quality.
