(Ukraine, 20th) — On Sunday (July 19), Ukraine accused Russia of launching a missile attack on a Turkish cargo ship carrying grain, resulting in five deaths and five missing.

According to reports by AFP, the Ukrainian Navy issued a statement saying that Russia fired three cruise missiles at the Golden Leo, a cargo ship flying the flag of Guinea-Bissau, while the grain-laden vessel was preparing to leave the war zone.

The statement read: "This is yet another deliberate attack by Russia on an unarmed civilian ship flying a foreign flag, which posed absolutely no military threat."

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Serhiy Sybiha said the ship’s crew consisted of Syrian and Indian citizens. A Ukrainian pilot and four crew members were killed, eight crew members were rescued, and five remain missing.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Koretsky said the cargo ship was attacked in nearby waters shortly after leaving Odessa port.

Earlier, Ukrainian Transport Minister Karashnyk posted on the instant messaging platform Telegram that eight crew members were rescued, two of whom were injured.

Sybiha wrote on the X platform: “While the world is still responding to Russia’s barbaric attack on Kyiv last night, Moscow continues its terror offensive in daylight hours.”

According to Bloomberg, Sybiha had earlier accused Russia of "launching a brutal terrorist attack on Ukraine's capital, firing the most ballistic missiles since the start of the war, with over 40 missiles. We need to apply devastating pressure on Moscow to put an end to such acts of terrorism."

As of Sunday night, the Russian strike on Kyiv had resulted in one death and 16 injuries; Russian Kursk region reported one death due to a Ukrainian airstrike.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that Russian troops launched a "large-scale" attack on military and logistics centers in Kyiv and its surrounding areas, as well as on Pivdennyi Port in Odesa Oblast along the Black Sea coast.

The Ministry of Defense said that Kyiv’s missile component production facilities were also hit, and at night, Russian air defenses shot down 140 Ukrainian drones.

Later on the evening of the 19th, the Ministry of Defense said that both Pivdennyi and Odesa ports had been attacked, and four military cargo ships were also targeted.
