The first meeting of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism was held on the 9th at Lancaster House in the West End of London, UK, and concluded after six hours, with the meeting continuing on the 10th. Analysts believe this round of talks is expected to focus on topics such as rare earths, tariffs, and technology. After the first day's meeting, the U.S. delegation claimed "achievements"; the Chinese side has not made any announcements yet.

According to CCTV reports, on June 9th local time, He Lifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, began to hold the first meeting of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism with the U.S. side in London, UK.

On the morning of the 10th, the CCTV program "Yuyuan Tantian" reported that on June 10th local time, the first meeting of the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation mechanism will continue.

After a phone call between the heads of state of China and the U.S. last Thursday, the two countries announced that they would hold economic and trade talks in London, with Vice Premier He Lifeng visiting the UK from the 9th to the 13th.

Earlier, U.S. White House Economic Council Director Hassett said in an interview that the new round of trade talks held in London by both countries is aimed at restoring the export of rare earths to the U.S.

Hassett stated in an interview broadcasted by CBS on the 8th that: "The released volume of these critical minerals is higher than before, but not as high as we thought we had agreed upon during the Geneva talks."

In the CBS interview, Hassett said: "I am pleased that this agreement is about to be reached," but did not disclose details of the China-U.S. trade talks in London.

The Wall Street Journal quoted informed sources saying that Trump authorized Bessent's team to negotiate the lifting of recent restrictions on various technology and other product exports from China. The report points out that this highlights the impact of China's rare earth controls on U.S. industries.

Bloomberg reported that the supply of rare earths has recently become a focus of the China-U.S. trade dispute. U.S. high officials, including Trade Representative Greer, accused Beijing of failing to comply with the agreement concluded at the Geneva talks last month, halting the supply of critical minerals needed for manufacturing advanced electronic products to the U.S.
