(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) The Brunei Tourism Development Department (TDD), together with Royal Brunei Airlines and local tourism partners, successfully organized two familiarization tours, inviting representatives from travel agencies in Thailand and Vietnam.
This is part of the Ministry of Tourism’s ongoing efforts to enhance Brunei’s visibility in the Southeast Asian tourism market.
The familiarization trip for the Thai delegation was held from November 12 to 16, 2025, and the trip for the Vietnamese delegation took place from November 13 to 16, 2025. The consecutive hosting of these two tours demonstrates the Ministry of Tourism's commitment to showcase Brunei’s rich cultural heritage, pristine natural landscapes, and soft adventure tourism offerings.
The Thai delegation comprised 11 travel agency representatives, and the Vietnamese delegation had 12 members, collectively representing key industry players from their respective countries. During the visit, both delegations embarked on explorations of Brunei’s historical and cultural landmarks, beginning with the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, the Royal Regalia Museum, Kampong Ayer, and Istana Nurul Iman. These visits allowed them a deep insight into Brunei’s royal heritage, Islamic architecture, and the traditions that continue to shape the nation's identity.
In addition to city sightseeing, the itinerary also brought participants up close with Brunei’s natural treasures. The canopy walk at Ulu Temburong National Park and the Brunei mangrove river tour offered immersive experiences of Brunei’s lush tropical rainforests and native wildlife.
To enrich these adventure activities, the program also included cultural experiences such as batik making, wajid (rice cake) cooking, and bamboo chicken demonstrations, allowing guests to directly participate in Brunei’s traditional crafts and culinary practices.
Both teams also had the opportunity to inspect several hotels to better understand the accommodation options Brunei provides for leisure, business, and adventure travelers.
Moreover, Bruneian travel agencies and those from Thailand and Vietnam held two networking sessions respectively, aimed at sharing experiences and exploring potential areas for future tourism product collaboration.
Earlier this year, the department organized a familiarization tour for Thai travel agencies focusing on Muslim tourism, and also invited Vietnamese influencer Fahoka for a visit, further promoting Brunei’s tourism market in these regions.
