KUCHING,8 June: More than 120 cows were donated for the ibadah korban (sacrificial ritual) in the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency.
Deputy Prime Minister and Petra Jaya MP, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, contributed 58 cows himself, while the rest were sponsored by state assemblymen.
He said the programme, which spanned three days, highlighted the strong spirit of cooperation and camaraderie among local residents.
He added this year ‘s ceremony involved the collaboration of various parties, including community leaders, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and youth volunteers.
“This is truly not just a sacrifice in terms of time, money, and effort, but also a reflection of the closeness of our residents who are willing to work together to make this program a success.
“This actually enhances friendliness and ultimately fosters harmony in our community here,” he said.
He said this to reporters at the NEXGEN Petra Jaya Sacrificial Ceremony held at the residence of the community leader of Tupong Jaya, Dawi Saifuddin, here today (June 8).
The ceremony was jointly organised by the JKKK of Kampung Tupong Jaya and the Tupong Jaya branch of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).
Fadillah said the sacrificial meat would be distributed to the local community in need, thereby further strengthening bonds among one another.
