(Bandar Seri Begawan, 21st) In response to UNESCO's initiative to set April 23rd each year as "World Book Day," Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) hosted celebratory activities on May 14th and 15th, with a launch ceremony held recently at Kampong Sinoot Agricultural Institute, Temburong.
The launch ceremony was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Arman. The event, jointly organized by the library, the Center for Research and Publication, and the Center for Knowledge and Language Development, aims to add meaning and vibrancy to World Book Day and to encourage the habit of reading among faculty and students.
One of the highlights of the event was a book discussion, themed "Managing Stress Factors Using an Islamic Spiritual Approach." The book, authored by Assistant Professor Anisah from UNISSA's School of Islamic Economics and Finance, was personally hosted by her, sharing insights and perspectives from the book.
During the event, outstanding faculty and students were also recognized. To further promote reading and student mental health, the launch of the "Mureeh Reading Corner" was announced. The name of the reading corner is derived from the Arabic word "mureeh," which means "comfortable," "calm," and "relaxed," and aims to create an exclusive space for students to read leisure books, participate in therapeutic games, and engage in other relaxing activities to help relieve stress and enhance learning efficiency.
UNISSA hopes to promote a culture of reading through this annual event, while also focusing on the overall well-being of students, reflecting the spirit of Islamic values and the dissemination of knowledge.
