(Bintulu 14th) The World Mission Society Church of God assisted in the post-flood cleanup work in Tatau, Sarawak.

From the 10th to the 12th of this month, the Church of God visited six families affected by the flood near the Pasar Lama area by the Batang Tatau and helped with reconstruction. A total of 20 people participated in this post-flood reconstruction activity. They conducted post-flood reconstruction activities in Bintulu and continued this work in Tatau .

The reconstruction work started from the home of Sangan Ngalayang (49 years old) and ended at the home of Sandra Ejau (48 years old). Church members comforted those in despair, and cleaned the mud and debris from inside and outside each house. They thoroughly cleaned submerged appliances and other household items, as well as all wet clothes, blankets, and mattresses, placing them out to dry in the sun. More than 15 participants spent 3 hours completing the recovery work; they also dismantled and disposed of furniture damaged by the flood that could not be repaired or restored.

Sangan (49 years old) said, if volunteers did not come to help me, I wouldn’t know where to start cleaning my home.

Sandra, who suffered greater losses, said that so much trash flowed into my house and needs cleaning; about 60 kilograms of fertilizer was destroyed, and some agricultural equipment failed due to the flood, causing me significant loss.

Alvernia Agnes Lupat (47 years old), responsible for carrying items covered in mud, expressed hope that today they can find solace from the flood.

Unking Sarang (43 years old), responsible for cleaning items covered in mud, stated that he was happy to volunteer here and share love with those in need.

The church also visited nursing homes in Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur, providing necessities and cleaning the interior and exterior of the buildings to help create a healthy living environment. In addition, the church helped alleviate community blood supply shortages by continuously conducting large-scale blood donation activities in places like Kuching and Miri in Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu in Sabah, and Johor Bahru in Johor.

This year marks the 61st anniversary of the establishment of the Church of God, a global church with locations in 7,800 places across 175 countries. The church has carried out over 29,000 volunteer activities worldwide, including disaster relief, environmental cleaning, tree planting, and educational support, bringing hope to a world facing various disaster crises. The international community has been touched by the church's sincere volunteer service, offering assistance and awarding the church with more than 5,000 awards, including presidential commendations from three countries, the President's Volunteer Service Award in the United States, the Legislative Meritorious Service Medal in Brazil, and the Honor Medal from the Congress of Peru.
