(Miri, 11th) A motorcycle repair shop located on Lee Teck Road caught fire this afternoon, fortunately resulting in no casualties. The Miri Central Fire Station swiftly dispatched personnel upon receiving the report and successfully controlled the blaze in a short time, preventing it from spreading to other buildings.
According to the fire station's report, the fire broke out today (Sunday) at 4:50 PM, and the fire truck arrived at the scene at 4:53 PM to begin firefighting operations. The fire was brought under control by 5:11 PM and was completely extinguished by 6:49 PM.
The fire occurred in a three-story permanent structure, covering an area of approximately 30 feet by 30 feet. The fire destroyed about 70% of the building, but no casualties were reported. The fire station initially judged the fire to be fierce and enacted an "offensive and defensive" firefighting strategy, utilizing two auxiliary hoses and a 100-foot water hose to draw water from a nearby fire hydrant to carry out the firefighting work.
The firefighting operation was led by Commander Robinson Any, involving two fire trucks and two emergency medical rescue vehicles from the Miri Central Fire Station and Lopeng Fire Station. Supporting units included the police, civil defense force, and Sarawak Energy personnel.
The fire scene was personally commanded by Miri Central Fire Station Deputy Director Mohamad Khuzer, a senior officer, and Mohamad Khairul from the fire investigation unit. Follow-up investigation work will be carried out by the fire investigation team to further clarify the cause of the fire and assess property damage.
