Hailong Temple Offers Spacious Venue Suitable for Events, Lee Kim Shin Urges All Units to Support Blood Donation

(Miri, 9th) Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, expressed his gratitude to the Hailong Temple Dou Mu Palace, Nine Emperor Gods, Arhat, Three Emperors and Dragon King Youth League for organizing a blood donation event and making good use of their spacious venue for blood donations and various other activities, considering this a commendable practice.

He made these remarks this morning while attending the blood donation event organized by Hailong Temple at the Wu Qinglong Master Integrated Hall on Jalan 9, Senadin. He noted that Hailong Temple offers a large venue, suitable for holding blood donation drives and other community activities. He hopes more organizations will similarly make use of their venues to contribute to society.

He stated that the current target for the Miri Blood Bank is to collect 15,000 units of blood, and hopes all units will continue to give their assistance and actively support blood donation efforts.

Lee pointed out that there are around 10,000 voluntary blood donors in Miri. When the blood supply in the blood bank is low, hospitals will also contact these voluntary donors to help replenish the stock.

He thanked all voluntary blood donors for their years of support, which has ensured that Miri has not faced serious blood shortages for many years.

He added that over the years, the Miri Hospital Blood Bank Center has worked closely with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society to continue promoting mobile blood donation drives, which help maintain a steady blood supply for the city.

Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin expressed his gratitude to Hailong Temple for organizing the blood donation event and providing the venue, allowing this meaningful activity to proceed smoothly. He pointed out that blood donation is a very meaningful public welfare activity and hopes more groups will continue to organize similar events for the benefit of the community.

He said that the goal for the Miri Blood Bank this year is to collect 10,000 units of blood. As of July, about 7,500 units have been collected, so he hopes that more groups will continue to participate in blood donation events to help reach the target for the year.

“Every year, hospitals need a large quantity of blood. Miri Central Hospital, in particular, has a constant demand. If the blood bank's reserves fall short, hospitals will directly contact donors, inviting them to donate blood at the central hospital.”

He expressed his appreciation to all long-term blood donation volunteers, noting that because of these enthusiastic individuals, the hospital has maintained a stable blood supply over the years, minimizing shortage issues.

Lee Kim Shin stressed that today's blood donation event organized by Hailong Temple is a great initiative, and that Miri Hospital and the Malaysian Red Crescent Society have enjoyed a long-term, cooperative relationship in promoting blood donation efforts.

He stated that after receiving donor registrations, the hospital will conduct relevant screenings and follow-up procedures, and will coordinate with related organizations to promote mobile blood donation drives, encouraging more citizens to participate.

During the event, members of the public could enjoy free health screening services provided by professional medical staff, including blood sugar tests, blood pressure checks, and BMI evaluations. While touring, Lee Kim Shin also underwent checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, and uric acid to better understand his own health status.

In addition, Miri Mayor and Pujut State Assemblyperson Yeo Siow Chin also later attended the event to show support.
