(Bandar Seri Begawan, 22nd) — Porsche Brunei grandly unveils the new generation electric flagship model—the Taycan Turbo GT and its ultimate performance variant, the Weissach Package. This model not only signifies the brand's breakthrough in electrification but also proves with its outstanding driving dynamics and numerous global track records that Porsche electric cars are not just fast in a straight line, but are also the embodiment of ultimate craftsmanship and performance.
Porsche Brunei Deputy General Manager Daniel Loo stated that the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach variant demonstrates that Porsche's electric vehicles are not just about straight-line speed, but possess comprehensive strength in setting records on multiple tracks worldwide.
“The updates across the Taycan range bring stronger power, improved features, and faster charging experiences, with the Turbo GT and Weissach versions representing our ultimate breakthrough in driving dynamics.”
Since Porsche electric vehicles officially entered the Brunei market in 2021, along with the opening of the new Porsche Centre Brunei, the brand has continued to lead the development of the local EV market, promoting various innovations, including EV-specific financing plans and the 'Porsche Destination Charging Network.' Currently, five strategic charging sites have been established nationwide, providing advanced DC (Direct Current) and AC (Alternating Current) fast charging facilities, located at major spots such as Supa Save Seria, After Chukkas Restaurante Asador (Jerudong), Baiduri Bank Headquarters, and Standard Chartered Bank Headquarters (Gadong).
The Taycan Turbo GT Weissach version adopts extreme lightweight and aerodynamic design, accelerating from standstill to 100km/h in just 2.2 seconds, with a top speed of 305km/h. The body features a fixed carbon fiber rear wing, front splitter, underbody air guides, and 220kg of downforce design, fully enhancing high-speed stability and handling.
To further reduce weight, the interior has had the rear seats, carpeting, and portions of sound insulation removed, replaced with carbon fiber coverings, making the total weight approximately 70kg less than the standard Turbo GT. All non-track-driving equipment (such as electronic tailgate and BOSE® audio system) are omitted, retaining only the most essential driving elements.
The Taycan Turbo GT series comes with an "Attack Mode" kinetic acceleration system, allowing a one-touch boost of up to 120kW of additional power for 10 seconds. Its inspiration comes from the Formula E electric racing series, designed specifically for track acceleration. In addition, the car is equipped with a brand-new rear axle motor and a 900-amp pulse inverter, with a maximum output power of 815kW (about 1,088 horsepower), a maximum torque of 1,340Nm, and a maximum range of up to 555km (WLTP).
The GT version standardly features the Porsche Active Ride suspension system and an exclusive dynamic package, paired with 21-inch forged alloy wheels and high-performance summer tires to enhance ultimate cornering capability. The entire car comes with a ceramic composite brake system (PCCB), featuring an optimized design that reduces weight and further enhances dynamic performance. The brake calipers are painted in "Victory Gold," showcasing the model's identity.
Standard features include carbon fiber bucket racing seats and black Race-Tex upholstery, with Turbo GT-exclusive embroidered logos and contrasting Volt Blue or GT Silver interiors. The steering wheel features a 12 o'clock marker and a Sport Chrono stopwatch, presenting a strong racing atmosphere.
Since February 2024, the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach variant has set the fastest production electric vehicle record at Laguna Seca Raceway in the United States with a time of 1:27.87, and at the Nürburgring Nordschleife (with a time of 7:07.55, breaking the previous Taycan Turbo S record by 26 seconds), becoming the fastest four-door production car to date. Other record tracks include the Shanghai F1 circuit in China, Brazil's Interlagos, Road Atlanta, and Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina.
The Taycan Turbo GT and its Weissach variant are now officially on display at the Porsche Brunei showroom. From now until July 3, customers who purchase any Porsche electric vehicle can enjoy exclusive financing offers.
