The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on the 3rd that a cargo ship was attacked in waters about 20 nautical miles northeast of Musandam, Oman that day.
The report shows that the incident occurred near the eastern entrance of the Strait of Hormuz. The UKMTO received a military report at 22:00 UTC on the 3rd (06:00 Malaysian time on the 4th).
The cargo ship in question reported via VHF radio that the vessel was hit by an unidentified projectile.
The UKMTO has recently reported several incidents of ship attacks, mostly occurring on shipping routes near the Omani side. The agency advises passing vessels to remain vigilant, navigate cautiously, and promptly report any suspicious activity.
The UKMTO also received a related report at 20:37 UTC on the 2nd, in which an oil tanker, located about 20 nautical miles northeast of Musandam, Oman, reported hearing an explosion nearby. Currently, the vessel and crew are all safe.
