(Kuala Lumpur, 27th) — The "Anwar Step Down" rally ended peacefully on Saturday (26th) evening, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar later posted a message wishing the participants a safe journey home.
Anwar, in a Facebook post on Saturday night (July 26), stated that as Prime Minister, he upholds the democratic principle of believing in freedom of speech and expression of opinions.
"Any criticism or differences should not be viewed with hostility; instead, these differences should become the lifeblood of a mature, progressive, and sovereign nation. More importantly, such differences must continue in an orderly, peaceful, and patriotic manner."
He said that the Prime Minister's Question Time in Parliament also upholds the same principle, allowing Members of Parliament to ask questions freely and express dissent towards the Prime Minister.
He also called on Malaysians to urge Members of Parliament to attend and actively participate in Parliament, especially during the Prime Minister's Question Time.
"I invite everyone to continue dialoguing and communicating, seeking consensus, and building the nation together—not only on the streets, but also by striving to learn, explore, and master new fields so that the country can advance steadily and energetically."
Anwar also invited rally participants to visit Kuala Lumpur again for sightseeing, noting that besides learning about historical landmarks, this could promote tourism and stimulate the surrounding economy of Kuala Lumpur.
"The capital and its surroundings are full of historical value, hope, and national spirit—especially during the upcoming Visit Malaysia Year 2026, when many interesting activities await you."
