On the 13th, in a document submitted to the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization, Iran revealed that military strikes by the United States and Israel have caused serious losses to its maritime transport, personnel safety, and more: 39 merchant ships were attacked and sunk, 110 traditional fishing boats were destroyed, and the attacks resulted in the deaths of 20 seafarers.

The document also disclosed multiple incidents of US-Israeli sabotage targeting Iran’s maritime infrastructure and rescue capabilities, including search and rescue vessels being sunk, medical ships damaged, port and anchorage vessels harmed, as well as interference with Vessel Traffic Service systems and navigation systems.

The Iranian side pointed out that these actions seriously violate international law, urged the Legal Committee of the International Maritime Organization to condemn such attacks, and called for an immediate cessation of all activities targeting maritime safety infrastructure, medical ships, and civilian shipping.

The document shows that US and Israeli military actions have caused Iran severe losses, resulting in the deaths of over 3,000 civilians (including 277 students), the destruction of more than 125,000 civilian facilities, 339 hospitals, 857 schools, and 32 universities, and about 3 million people have been displaced, of whom 500,000 have been rendered homeless.

The Iranian side stated that the current deterioration of security in the Persian Gulf and related maritime areas is a direct consequence of US and Israeli military strikes against Iran. At this stage, vessels from countries involved in attacking Iran are not permitted to transit the Strait of Hormuz; ships from other countries must coordinate with the competent Iranian authorities if they wish to transit, in order to ensure the safety of navigation and reduce risk.

Iran indicated that after hostile actions end, it will coordinate with Oman to establish a framework for secure passage through the Strait of Hormuz and will report relevant progress to the International Maritime Organization.
