(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th) D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd Corporate Communications Manager Cheong Chui San expressed gratitude to all attendees of the 32nd Consumer Fair.
Today, we are honored to invite the Acting Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, as our guest of honor.

Your presence reflects the government’s ongoing support for trade, enterprise development, and regional cooperation.
She said that over the years, the Consumer Fair has developed into a strong and trusted platform for business growth and market participation. From the 23rd to the 32nd Consumer Fair, the number of participating businesses grew from 176 to 367, an increase of more than 100%.
This sustained growth reflects increasing business confidence and the continued importance of the Consumer Fair as a results-driven market platform.

Meanwhile, participation by local businesses has also continued to rise. Bruneian companies remain the backbone of the Consumer Fair, reflecting their increased strength, greater confidence, and determination to grow and compete.
At the 32nd Consumer Fair, out of 367 participating businesses, 245 were local companies, further consolidating the fair’s status as a platform centered around Bruneian enterprises. Participation of international businesses aims to facilitate cooperation, business-matching, and regional trade exchanges, thereby complementing local resources, encouraging knowledge sharing, and strengthening the overall business ecosystem.
She said that by observing the patterns of international participants, we can see how the Consumer Fair has evolved over time.

Before the 30th Consumer Fair, international participation was low, mainly focused on neighboring markets, and relatively small in scale. However, this phase was crucial for laying the groundwork and establishing credibility, all while steadfastly supporting local enterprises.

Since the 30th Consumer Fair, we have observed a significant shift. Both the scale and scope of international participation have expanded considerably—from regional development to covering multiple markets across Asia and beyond.
This reflects the growing awareness of the Consumer Fair, as well as increasing confidence in Brunei as a business destination.
As I mentioned in previous speeches at the Consumer Fair, increased international participation has brought positive spillover effects beyond trade, such as supporting the development of tourism, hospitality, F&B, and related service industries.
She said that this year, we are very honored to welcome embassies and representatives from Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Their arrival has brought tangible value to our ecosystem, creating opportunities for business matching, cooperation, and trade exchanges.

Over time, a more diversified trade base also helps improve logistics efficiency, resulting in higher cargo volumes, smoother logistics connections, and enhanced cost competitiveness across the entire supply chain.

Beyond the fair itself, this growth also reflects the attractiveness of Brunei as a place to do business, helped by policy certainty, facilitation measures, and targeted government incentives. More business-friendly and facilitative policies—supported by clearer regulations, streamlined processes, and closer inter-agency cooperation—will continue to enhance the confidence of businesses to invest, operate, and expand.
She stated that this confidence is evident not only among local companies, but also in the sustained participation of regional businesses, particularly from Sabah and Sarawak, as well as an increasing number of Indonesian companies. Their continual participation further fortifies Brunei’s status as a reliable market and connectivity hub in Borneo and the wider region.
She hopes this year’s Consumer Fair will continue to turn opportunities into results—strengthening businesses and consolidating Brunei’s economic resilience.

Here, she sincerely wishes the 32nd Consumer Fair great success.
