Poster Looks Like AI, Expensive Tickets with Distant Seats—Jay Chou's Tour Criticized as 'Profit-Driven'

Launching the latest round of his tour starting in Hangzhou, Jay Chou has been accused by netizens of lacking sincerity and being 'profit-driven'!

Entering his zodiac year of the Horse, 'Jay' Jay Chou seems to be running into wave after wave of controversy, such as with his newly announced tour, which will be held under the theme of 'one city, one theme'. The first stop is scheduled from April 3 to 5 at Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium (Big Lotus), under the title “Fireworks in Hangzhou · Carnival II” 2026 World Tour Hangzhou Stop. Tickets have recently gone on sale and, as expected, all three shows sold out within seconds. Despite this, many netizens have harshly criticized the high pricing. Reportedly, the most expensive ticket for the concert is 2,380 RMB (about MYR 1,350), while some 1,380 RMB (about MYR 783) tickets are for seats so far from the stage that people joke you’d need to call a car to get there, exclaiming that it’s not worth it!

According to online reports, Jay Chou’s concert ticket prices in China typically range from 600 RMB (about SGD 110) to 2,380 RMB (about SGD 438).

In addition to dissatisfaction with seat arrangements, many netizens have also commented that since Jay Chou is launching a new tour, the show should feature many surprises. Unfortunately, both the tour’s “Carnival” name and the poster design are said to lack appeal, with some even suspecting the poster looks AI-generated. In the poster, Jay Chou wears an iron armor mask revealing only his mouth, leading netizens to joke that if not for his name on it, one would not even know it is him. The font is also harshly criticized as unattractive, resembling a “student project.” Some noted that even Jay Chou himself commented online, praising a netizen-made poster as being alright, which many interpreted as self-deprecating about the mediocrity of his own tour’s poster.

Additionally, since Jay Chou’s last tour faced much negative feedback—with claims that he sang perfunctorily at his concerts, often relying on mass singalongs, and that his voice was not as clear as before—many criticized a drop in standard. This tour is set to kick off in April, but Jay was recently seen accompanying his wife Hannah Quinlivan to a tennis match and was also spotted by netizens in Australia, making some worry about the quality of the upcoming concerts.
