Huawei's Next-Generation HarmonyOS Achieves Interconnection with Apple

Chinese tech giant Huawei has released its next-generation HarmonyOS, enabling interconnection with Apple.

According to comprehensive reports from Sci-Tech Innovation Board Daily and China News Service, on the 22nd, Huawei released the new generation of HarmonyOS (HarmonyOS 6).

It is reported that a major highlight of this HarmonyOS update lies in its intelligent agent framework. The first batch of over 80 HarmonyOS application agents has already gone online. The XiaoYi assistant has evolved into a "super assistant," supporting recognition of 16 dialects and capable of executing complex tasks, such as auto photo editing and generating AI dynamic videos.

HarmonyOS 6 has also achieved cross-ecosystem interconnection, supporting file transfer with Apple’s iOS, PadOS, and macOS devices. This function can be completed in close proximity without using mobile data, marking a further breakdown of barriers between different operating systems.

HarmonyOS is a distributed intelligent operating system developed by Huawei for all scenarios, officially released in August 2019. The system was formally installed on smartphones in 2021. In 2025, Huawei released two HarmonyOS computers, making HarmonyOS a fully self-controllable PC operating system.

HarmonyOS 5, launched in October 2024, rid itself of dependency on open-source code, achieving complete autonomous control from the system’s core to the application layer. The HarmonyOS ecosystem has become an important platform for sustained innovation in China’s software and mobile ecosystem. As of October 22nd, the number of devices equipped with HarmonyOS 5 surpassed 23 million.

Compared with HarmonyOS 5, HarmonyOS 6 has achieved upgrades in fluency, AI intelligence, security protection, cross-device interconnection, and human-centered care.
