(Bandar Seri Begawan, 7th) Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) announced the expansion of its long-standing codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines, adding a new codeshare route from Bandar Seri Begawan via Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul, effective from August 7, 2026.
This partnership is an extension of the existing codeshare arrangement via Dubai, offering travelers another gateway to Turkey and beyond.
Under the expanded agreement, RB will operate the Bandar Seri Begawan to Kuala Lumpur segment, while Turkish Airlines will operate the Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul segment. Both airlines will sell these connecting flights under their respective flight codes, providing passengers with a smoother travel experience as well as greater flexibility and convenience.
The expanded network will further strengthen the connectivity between Brunei and one of the world’s most strategically positioned aviation hubs, allowing travelers easier access to Turkey, Europe, the Middle East, and other destinations covered by Turkish Airlines’ extensive global network.
Meanwhile, the cooperation also creates opportunities for more international visitors to come to Brunei, allowing them to experience the renowned Bruneian hospitality, admire lush rainforests, beautiful beaches, abundant natural resources, and cultural attractions, and adding momentum to the upcoming “2027 Brunei Tourism Year.”
Both parties stated that this cooperation reflects the joint commitment of the two airlines to provide more choices to customers through strategic partnership, while also supporting tourism, business travel, and economic ties between the two markets.
Joshua Law, Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Brunei Airlines, said that with the expanded codeshare, travelers between Brunei and Istanbul can now choose to transfer via Kuala Lumpur, adding another gateway to the existing option via Dubai.
He said this not only offers travelers more choices and flexibility but also brings Brunei closer to Turkey, Europe, and other regions, while making it easier for international travelers to explore Brunei and the wider Borneo area.
“This is exactly how strong airline partnerships create meaningful connectivity—linking different destinations, supporting tourism and trade, and opening new possibilities for our customers.”
Mahmut Yayla, Turkish Airlines Senior Vice President of Sales (Region 2), said that Brunei boasts beautiful natural landscapes and a rich culture, and Turkish Airlines is delighted to make it easier for more travelers to reach Brunei through the expanded collaboration with Royal Brunei Airlines.
He remarked that with the implementation of this agreement, travelers will have more ways to explore this unique region and have the opportunity to experience Turkish Airlines’ signature Turkish hospitality en route.
The new codeshare service is open for booking from today. Passengers can purchase tickets through the sales channels of both Royal Brunei Airlines and Turkish Airlines, subject to operational readiness and system availability.
Royal Brunei Airlines stated that this partnership further demonstrates the company’s commitment to expanding its international route network through strategic partnerships, providing seamless travel experiences for travelers, and enhancing air connectivity between Brunei and major international markets.
