The Chinese and Myanmar authorities continue to carry out joint operations to combat telecommunications network fraud. Recently, Myanmar law enforcement agencies handed over more than 920 Chinese nationals suspected of fraud, who were previously arrested in areas like Nanyang and Mengshu in Southern Shan State, to the Chinese side via Xishuangbanna, Yunnan.

● Multiple Rounds of Cleanup Operations by Myanmar

The Ministry of Public Security announced on the 23rd that as a result of the joint crackdown by China and Myanmar, more than 55,000 Chinese nationals suspected of fraud have been captured, significantly hitting fraudulent groups in northern Myanmar. However, some fraud suspects have moved and hidden in deeper areas such as Nanyang and Mengshu in Myanmar to evade capture, setting up new operations.

Chinese police promptly provided clues to the Myanmar side, assisting in identifying new fraud dens. Since March 24, Myanmar has launched multiple concentrated raids, progressively capturing more than 920 Chinese nationals suspected of fraud and seizing a large number of tools used in the crimes, including computers, mobile phones, bank cards, and fraud scripts.

An official from the Ministry of Public Security emphasized that the joint efforts by China and Myanmar to combat telecommunications network fraud remain strong, with a firm resolve to eradicate fraud bases and hunt down criminal suspects. Telecom fraudsters are urged to return to China and surrender as soon as possible to seek lenient treatment.
