(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) The Royal Brunei Police Force issued a public warning yesterday, reminding the public to be vigilant against "phishing scam" calls impersonating police officers.

The police advise the public not to panic and to avoid disclosing any personal or financial information to callers.

Phishing, also called phishing scam, is a criminal scam process that attempts to obtain personal sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by masquerading as reputable individuals through phone or electronic communications.

If the public needs verification, they can first call the Bandar Seri Begawan Police Station (Phone: 2242334) or the Criminal Investigation Department (Phone: 2459500)
